Happy June, friends! Today I'm introducing Monday Mantra. A weekly post to start your week off in a positive direction. The first Monday Mantra is BE THE FIRST.
We've all been there. Perhaps someone has wronged you, or you didn't get your way, or perhaps you were at fault in a disagreement. It's incredibly easy to huff and puff and gripe about it. It's so easy to sit around and wait for the other person to come along and apologize or initiate a conversation. Know what's hard? Being the first one to step up and communicate, clarify, or clear the air. It's hard to extend that damn olive branch.
So what's a girl to do? Click through to find out the simple solution, what's much harder, and how you can Be The First.
from L to R: Layla June doing what we do best, my morning look, that sweet nectar of life known as coffee
Oh, mornings. That beautiful, peaceful, bright part of the day. Where everyone is hitting snooze and cursing themselves for staying up so late. Jokes aside, morning is my absolute favorite time of day - but I miss it almost daily. Since I don't do the 9 to 5 routine (and praise be that I don't, you do not want that version of me out in the world), I don't generally set an alarm or force myself to get up when I need rest.
This week, I'm giving myself a challenge to wake up a few hours earlier than I normally do. I LOVE morning so much, and always feel way better about myself and my day when I wake up early. So often we avoid doing the things that make us feel good and be even greater humans than we already are. Let's stop doing that, okay?
I'm calling this The RISE Challenge because I want to RISE up to a higher level. I want to push myself to see how much I can accomplish with extra hours, give myself the gift of more time, conduct a little experiment with myself. I want to call myself out on the things I could be doing for my life, but am currently avoiding.
